Endoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure utilizing specialized instruments, known as endoscopes, to examine internal organs. At CIDS, we offer Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) endoscopy using a gastroscope to assess the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. This procedure, performed with or without anesthesia, ensures patient comfort through pre-procedural measures such as oral cavity numbing with lignocaine gargles or spray.

Indications for Endoscopy:
Endoscopy is recommended to diagnose various conditions based on symptoms such as reflux, heartburn, difficulty swallowing, vomiting (including coffee-colored or bloody vomitus), and suspected liver disease. It is also crucial for detecting cancers of the esophagus and stomach, as well as identifying polyps or tumors in the upper gastrointestinal tract.

Preparation for Endoscopy:
Prior to your endoscopy, you will be advised to abstain from eating or drinking for eight hours. Certain medications, such as blood thinners and anti-diabetic medications, may need to be temporarily stopped, following your doctor's guidance. This precaution minimizes the risk of bleeding during the procedure.
Complications of Endoscopy:
